How to Properly Clean Your Flat Iron

EAP Heat

Don't we just love our flat irons? These are very instrumental and essential hair tools that come in handy whenever we get tired of the curls and decide to switch it up and go for a more straight hair look.

They are worth every penny- an investment you will surely never regret- since they are very effective and yield excellent results. However, these results depend on how you take care of your tool.

Owning a flat iron is about more than just learning how to use it. If you desire to maintain your healthy, shiny, breathtaking hair, then you should regularly clean your flat iron.  Why is this important? Read on to find out the answers to this question and so much more.

Is cleaning your flat iron necessary?

Having a clean tool not only protects your hair from damage but also makes it possible for your flat iron to work more effectively. It is often the norm for us to apply products (oils and sprays) on our hair before straightening.  While these products help us achieve the final fantastic look, they also tend to build-up on the flat iron plates, leaving a very slimy and grime coating.

This coating may result in severe damage to your hair. Besides hair damage, you also risk cutting short your flat iron's lifespan- the coating affects the iron's functionality. You should, therefore, ensure that you clean your flat iron.

How do you clean it?

You can utilize various easy ways when cleaning your iron; hence, you have no excuse.

Alcohol

This is the most popular cleansing method for flat irons. The first step is to ensure that your flat iron is completely cooled off before rubbing the plates with alcohol. Use cotton balls that are soaked in alcohol and not your bare fingers.

Relaxer

Although this product is used to straighten our hair chemically, it can also help clean your flat iron.

• Firstly, make sure that your iron is unplugged, and then apply the relaxer on the plates.

• Proceed to plug it in and leave it on for 10-15 minutes.

• Unplug it and let it cool completely before wiping off the relaxer with a wet cloth.

Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda Paste

Take a bowl and add a quarter of baking soda, with just a pinch of hydrogen peroxide. Mix the two until you get a fine paste, then use your fingers to rub the paste on the flat iron plates. Remember to ensure that the iron is cooled off since your safety is paramount.

I don’t own a EAP heat flat iron yet, trying to see what my babyliss can do first but I would just use alcohol or a barbicide wipe to clean the ones I have now.

I was a bit skeptical because I’ve brought several flat irons before and it never really seems to do the job the way I would hope, but this flat iron right here is the absolute truth. As soon as my cousin plugged it in for me it got hot. I had her try it on a small part of her hair and it’s a if she had gotten a perm. I’m so impressed. I also plan on purchasing the hot comb and curly from u guys. I absolutely love love love my new purchase. Definitely worth the money.
