The Basics of Moisturizing

The Basics of Moisturizing

The basics of learning how to moisturize your hair is simply learning your hair. Get familiar with your hair's ability to absorb and retain moisture which is its porosity.

  • Low porosity - difficulty allowing moisture into the hair shaft
  • Normal porosity - readily takes and retains moisture
  • High porosity - absorbs moisture quickly and can lose it just as fast

Once you know how your hair takes to moisture, decide what kind of products you want to work into your regimen keeping in mind the type of hair you have also and what would keep it moisturized.

If you have curly hair try adding a hair mask, deep conditioner, and a moisturizing shampoo.

If you have thick hair try adding a hair mask, deep conditioner, and thicker products depending on your hair's porosity.

If you have thin hair try lightweight shampoos and conditioners, jojoba oil and lavender oil.
