Flat Wrap
This technique creates wider curls with lots of volume and definition and is contingent on the thickness and size of your sections. For this method, we would recommend a wider barrel like our Almost 1 ½ inch Titanium Curling Iron.
- Taking a section, apply a heat protectant and evenly distribute it throughout
- Wrap the section around the barrel clamp opened without twisting hair until you get to the end
- Hold for 60 seconds then release the clasp and allow hair to coil off the barrel
- Apply hair spray to preserve curls
- Start back at step one for the next section
Spiral Wrap
This technique creates dynamic spirals with added texture and comes out better on sections of about an inch and not too thick. For this method, we would recommend Almost 1 in Titanium Curling Iron.
- Taking a section, apply a heat protectant and evenly distribute throughout
- Before wrapping the section around the barrel, twist the section from root to tip (braiding is also an option)
- Begin wrapping around the barrel of the curling iron being sure to wrap and twist hair in the same direction
- Hold for 60 seconds then release the clasp and allow hair to coil off the barrel
- Apply hair spray to preserve curls
- Start back at step one for the next section
These are just two of the numerous ways to curl your hair, any combination of the two in addition to other techniques will get you the curls that you desire. Play with both of these techniques and figure out what is best for you.
