This is your guide to being sure that you are properly shampooing your hair. There is not a lot that goes into the actual process of shampooing but there are some things that should be kept in mind when choosing a shampoo as well as how often you choose to shampoo. Be sure to grab a shampoo that is sulfate-free because even though it is a cleaner it strips hair of the natural oils it needs for growth and sustainability. Also keep in mind the type of hair you have as well because with curly hair you might want to try a moisturizing shampoo to not only cleanse but add moisture to strands. When it comes to shampooing follow these easy four steps:
1. Prepare your hair
For some people this can be a co-wash to add nutrients or massaging with oil beforehand to open up pores for better absorption.
2. Rinse moderately
Remove excess oil from hair before shampooing, do this with lukewarm water to open the cuticles of the hair for a deeper cleanse.
3. Apply shampoo
Focusing on the buildup, start at the scalp with a small amount of shampoo working it into a lather and then down the hair shaft.
4. Rinse thoroughly
Be sure to rinse out all of the shampoo and if you feel hair is still greasy or dirty go back to step two and repeat the process again.
