Benefits of Rice Water

Rice water is the starchy water that is left behind after soaking or cooking rice. It is said that this type of water contains some of the same nutrients as rice itself like antioxidants and vitamins which can add nutrients to your hair. Rice water provides nutrients to the hair that can increase shine, smoothness, and assist in making hair more manageable. It’s beneficial for all hair types, especially those who experience dull, dry, and weakened hair. 

How to make rice water: 

Soaking Instructions 

  1. Rinse off ½ cup of uncooked rice 
  2. Put rice in a bowl and fill the bowl with 2 cups of water
  3. Soak at room temperature for up to 24 hours 
  4. Strain water into a spray bottle 
  5. Refrigerate until ready for use 

Boiling Instructions 

  1. Rinse off ½ cup of uncooked rice 
  2. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil 
  3. Add in rice 
  4. Remove from heat once water gets cloudy 
  5. Let cool 
  6. Stain water into a spray bottle 
  7. Refrigerate until ready for use (shelf life 1 week)
